Celebrate the world's oceans with a fun-filled VLM-Diverday of family activities designed to raise awareness of the importance of ocean conservation. Enjoy special displays of ocean specimens from our non-live natural history collections, witness a scuba program, ocean conservation videos, interactive websites, activities and giveaways.
The Sierra Club will be here to highlight important conservation issues that affect ocean ecology, including ocean drilling and maseafood-watchrine mammal protection. Learn how to choose sustainable seafood through the Seafood Watch Program and taste some of the best seafood in the area that is caught or farmed in ways that sustain marine life. Witness efforts of Clean the Bay Day, and see some of the items collected in our waterways. Plus, observe our Conservation Tank and see just how trash impacts marine environments.
We will also have a 22’ inflatable Right whale calf for visitors to enjoy and experience the impressive size of a “baby” whale.
Prepare for this special day of conservation and view the many species of fish you can see when you visit on World Oceans Day.
